There is something lovely about heading outside with a bowl and coming back with dinner’s beginnings. In my garden, vegetables are the heart of the season: some dependable favourites, a few experiments and always something I have forgotten I planted.

The year starts gently. A few hardy greens and radishes make the first harvest feel close, while seedlings wait for steadier weather. Here in Hanstholm, I keep an eye on the wind and resist the urge to plant everything out just because one sunny afternoon has arrived.

The 9 m² greenhouse earns its keep with the warmth-loving plants. Tomatoes are a favourite: they need tying in and checking, but the first ripe one eaten straight from the vine makes the small daily jobs feel worthwhile. I give them space, water steadily and try not to fuss too much.

Later, the garden shifts to roots, beans and greens for the kitchen. I harvest what we can use, share what is extra and freeze or preserve a little when the baskets fill up. These pages are where I keep the notes: what worked, what surprised me and what I might try again.

Thanks for spending a little time in my garden. There’s always something new to try, and I’ll be glad to share what happens next.
